Email. We use it every day as a form of communication at work, with family and friends but could you survive without it?
Atos, one of the largest information technology companies in the world with over 80,000 employees, has recently announced they are banning email as a form of communication. Instead, they will focus on speaking to co-workers and customers face-to-face, on the phone or through various instant chat mechanisms.
Email is a big part of what we do every day but it ‘cannot replace spoken word’ as Thierry Breton, CEO of Atos describes. At Photodex, we couldn’t agree more. While we’re not about to totally ban email, we do understand the importance of verbal communication with each other and our customers.
That’s why we run a 7-day a week live call center in our Austin HQ. Sometimes you simply can’t communicate the instructions on how to do something in ProShow via email. Sometimes it’s just easier and faster for all parties to hop on the phone and walk through it.
We get to not only help customers right away and avoid a multi-day lag that email can sometimes create, but we also get to really know our customers and how they interact with our products.
So, do you think you could go without email for an extended period of time?
