Plastic Please! Taking Credit Cards for Payment

How are you taking payment for your photography and slideshow services?

Professional Photographer magazine recently ran a very informative article about accepting credit cards as payment. Take a quick read to learn about the different services and credit processing fees out there.

Our favorite method for taking credit cards on-the-go is a device called Square. By connecting this little guy to your iPhone, iPad or Android phone via the headphone jack, you can swipe a credit card, process the order and Square handles all the rest. You’re billed 2.75 percent of each transaction but there are no monthly fees or set up fees.

Square lets you set up custom invoices and swipe and take payments on-location or anywhere you may be. Your customers simply sign by using their finger on your touchscreen device and the receipt is emailed to them. There’s no cost for the Square device itself, just visit their website and request one be sent to you. You’ll only be charged for transactions you take.
